Free In-Store Computer Recycling
Is computer recycling free at RecycleIT?
Yes. RecycleIT offers free in-store computer recycling for accepted computer-related e-waste at our computer recycling center in Nanuet, NY during business hours.
Where do I drop off computers for recycling?
You can drop off accepted computer-related e-waste at RecycleIT – Computer Recycling Center, located at 138 Main Street in Nanuet, NY. Large drop-offs should call ahead or contact RecycleIT first.
Do I need an appointment to drop off computer e-waste?
Most standard drop-offs do not require an appointment during business hours. For larger quantities, business equipment, servers, or bulk drop-offs, it is best to call ahead or contact RecycleIT before visiting.
Can businesses drop off old computers?
Yes. Businesses can drop off accepted computer-related e-waste, including desktops, laptops, hard drives, servers, network equipment, cables, peripherals, and similar IT equipment. For larger quantities, businesses can also request a free estimate for pickup.
Data Destruction
Do you offer free data destruction?
Yes. RecycleIT offers free in-store data destruction for accepted storage devices during business hours at our Nanuet computer recycling center.
Do you destroy both hard drives and SSDs?
Yes. RecycleIT destroys both traditional hard drives and solid-state drives. SSDs store data differently than standard hard drives, but they can still contain sensitive information and should be physically destroyed before recycling when data security matters.
Can I bring in the whole computer?
Yes. If the hard drive, SSD, or storage device is still inside a laptop, desktop computer, or server, you can bring in the whole accepted device. RecycleIT can remove the storage device and destroy it before the equipment is recycled.
Why is physical data destruction important?
Deleting files, emptying the recycle bin, or formatting a drive may not permanently remove stored information. Physical data destruction helps make hard drives, SSDs, and other storage devices unusable before recycling.
Pickup Estimates
Does RecycleIT pick up computer e-waste?
Yes. RecycleIT provides pickup estimates for businesses, offices, IT departments, organizations, and larger cleanouts with accepted computer-related e-waste. You can request a free estimate for pickup from your location.
Is pickup free?
Free in-store drop-off recycling is available for accepted items. Pickup service is handled by estimate based on the items, quantity, location, labor needs, and project details.
What information should I include when requesting a pickup estimate?
Include your location, the type of equipment, approximate quantity, whether any items are heavy or difficult to access, and whether you need data destruction, certificates, or serialized asset reporting. Photos can also help provide a more accurate estimate.
Do you offer residential pickup?
Residential pickup may be available by estimate, especially for larger quantities or cleanouts. For smaller amounts, free in-store drop-off at our Nanuet computer recycling center is usually the best option.
